Starting a new journey:

SIDTM, Pune

After getting into college the first thing that students look forward to is the Induction process. The induction process is very exciting and the most looked forward thing for the first-year students. This not only provides insights from the industry and college but also motivates the students to make the most out of their life in college.

But this year was different, and a challenge for the college to pull the event in its full spirit. Let’s have a sneak peek at the flow of the event.

How did it start

Firstly, we had a university address that was live-streamed on youtube where we had more than 3500 students from all the Symbiosis colleges were Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor, and Pro-Chancellor addressed us with a fascinating story about the Symbiosis Society and the story behind it.

Day — 1

The five-day-long event kicked in with the address of Director Sir and Dy. Director Sir of Symbiosis Institute of Digital & Telecom Management, Pune where we got to know about our college more and the legacy behind it. Apart from that, we had faculty introduction and placement orientation. We were really impressed to look at the credibility of our faculty and their achievements in the past. It induced a rush in our veins and we felt very much associated with the Symbiosis Society on the very first day.

Expert Advice — The Alumni

On the second day, the session started with the sessions on physical and mental health, and Time management by our esteemed Professor. We also had the pleasure to interact with industry veterans like Capgemini’s MD (Southeast Asia), Senior VP, Persistent System, and Managing Director Protiviti. All these veterans took us back to their starting journey and the choices they made through their careers and more. Apart from this, they also threw some light on the experiences and opportunities in IoT space and consulting.

Learning from Veterans:

While we were still registering the wisdom from past days, on the third day, our session started with the tips on being an effective manager, followed by the future of the digital domain by Managing Director from Goldman Sachs. . We also had personalities like General Manager Vodafone, Associate Director KPMG, area VP Citrix to name a few who enlightened us about corporate journey and takeaways from SIDTM.

The Colonel Commands:

The fourth day or the second last day of the very wonderful roller coaster started with another alumnus who is Associate Director, KPMG, who shared insights into consulting and future prospects of consulting. Just after that, we saw a big bundle of energy on our screens. It was Col. Sunil Brijkishan who told us the importance of corporate communication and how to ace any presentation or interview. We still look forward to his classes in the timetable, his energy and enthusiasm drive us to be better at what we are doing.

Case Studies:

At last but not least, on our fifth and final day of the induction, we had a brainstorming case study by our Professor, Dr. Joshi. The case study was on Pepsi how do I still remember it? The answer is simple, because of her engaging teaching style that got all of us involved in it despite the virtual barrier and we got to know some of the fantastic approaches to take on any case studies. From that day onwards, she has given us many more case studies that have not only improved our thinking but also made us look at the things and brands from a marketing point of view. Her teaching style is very unique and engaging.

The Precious Feeling:

With this, we came to the end of our induction session. While writing all these things, I can picture every session in front of my eyes and the takeaways that I have, and I’m going to be in that moment for a while now after shutting down my laptop and smile by myself thanking my destiny and dear Lord for bringing me here.
